First Space-Grade Quad 16-bit 2.8GSPS DAC Launched

Data converters, which connect analog with digital domains, are key devices of signaling links in electronic systems. As the new generation of national space projects developing, data converters, especially ADC&DAC with high reliability, radiation hardening and high performance, have been the main factor to contribute to the performance of electronic systems.

BMTI strives to develop high-end converters, so as to meet the increasing demands of major space projects for data converters with the features of radiation hardening, multichannel, high precision and high rate. Therefore, technical challenges, e.g., high-performance DAC kernel architecture, high-frequency low-jitter clock reception, above gigahertz converter radiation hardening, have been overcome and the world’s first space-grade quad 16-bit 2.8GSPS DAC launched.

With the highest precision and number of channels, such space-grade gigahertz DAC stands out worldwide. Its technical capacity is in the lead due to conversion rate increased from 1GSPS to 2.8GSPS, channels expanded from 2 to 4 channels. In addition, it integrates quad-channel high-performance DAC core, 8-lane JESD204B high-speed serial interface, optional 1x/2x/4x/8x/ interpolation filters, high-speed digital signal quadrature modulation module, and low-noise broadband PLL module, etc. With the lane rate of serial interface over 10Gbps and update rate of up to 2.8GSPS, the DAC can meet the requirements of space projects e.g. lunar exploration and Mars exploration, as well as electronic systems such as broadband satellite communications for multi-channel, high-precision, broad bandwidth DAC. Furthermore, it can be applied in 5G communication, intelligent industrial equipment, high-end test instruments, which has great market potential with a complete high-performance D/A conversion solution.

Years of unremitting endeavors have witnessed the development of converters. It is the converter team of BMTI that has successively developed series high-performance DAC&ADC for space applications. Meanwhile, a complete product family has been built, including space-grade high-performance ADC with resolution of 8~16bits, sampling rate of 1MSPS~3200MSPS and 1~8channels, as well as DAC with conversion accuracy of 12~16 bits, conversion rate of 100MSPS~5600MSPS and 1~4channels. It highly improves the design capacity of high-performance converters for space applications, and the construction of space power as well.
