The Intelligent SPARC Multi-core Processor with Radiation Hardening and High-performance Launched

As national space projects developing, the on-orbit task processing of spacecrafts is increasingly complex, and the real-time&intelligent requirements are getting higher and higher. In order to meet the demands of the new generation of space projects for high-performance computing, high reliable control, and to independently control high-end aerospace processors, BMTI promotes multi-core processors R&D, and has developed the third generation of domestic radiation-hardened intelligent multi-core processor BM3883MARH.

Compared with the first generation of domestic SPARC aerospace processor, the main frequency of BM3883MARH is increased by 10 times to 1GHz, as well as the fixed-point and floating-point computing performance is increased by 100 times above and the integration scale is increased by 40 times. Therefore, the 100 million gate-level multi-core processor was developed and acceleration engine on artificial intelligence integrated.

The Space Intellectual Team, that responsible for this project, conducted in-depth research on major space projects e.g. manned spaceflight, lunar exploration, deep space exploration. Besides, they thoroughly considered application requirements including satellite service management, attitude&orbit control management, on-orbit real-time image recognition, dynamic target tracking, and high-bandwidth data communication processing. The team has always been committed to developing self-supporting intelligent multi-core processors with high-performance to meet the demands of radiation-hardened microprocessors from the new generation space projects for information access, high-speed transmission and intelligent processing.

Sticking to emancipating their minds and innovation spirit, they are determined to transform and upgrade domestic aerospace CPU with multi-core intelligence, and encourages the youth to overcome new technology, new architecture and new process difficulties. Moreover, the team also broke through the high-intelligence eight-core processor architecture design, acceleration engine design for neural networks, radiation hardened reinforcement design for GHz processors, microprocessor verification with multi-layer, multi-strategies, high-coverage, etc, having developed intelligent multi-core processor BM3883MARH with radiation hardening and high-performance.

With the national most cores and the highest performance, it has better performance than those radiation-hardened processors in Europe, only to the United States, reaching the internationall advanced level. The peak computing power of the artificial intelligence acceleration engine reaches 5TOPs, and it supports high-speed storage of DDR3/4, high-speed interfaces SRIO and PCIe, to meet high-performance requirements of the new period model task.  Not only realizing the leap-forward of technological innovation, and stepping into a new march of serving models, it also demonstrates the responsibility of a space power in chips, thus supporting the independent controllable and sustainable development of national major space projects.
